Sculptural form - hand built, raku fired

Paint a pot? Select a piece of hand made bisque fired pottery. Decorate and glaze it with a specially formulated glaze, then experience the ancient Japanese art of raku firing. Watch the fire transform the glaze as it becomes a molten mass at about 1800 degrees F. Then hold your breath as the glowing red hot pots are taken out of the kiln and put into a container of leaves or straw for a short reduction time. The crackles and lustres that result from the reduction process are never the same. Glazing and raku firing can be done in an afternoon or evening, weather permitting, as the raku firing is done outdoors. When you book your accommodation, let Betty know that you would like to glaze some pots.
